About The Role

Axiom Builders is looking for a Superintendent, Wood Frame for muliple complex, multi-phase residential town-home and low-rise six-storey projects in the Greater Vancouver Area with construction start dates slated for this year. As our organization continues to expand our portfolio of projects, we are looking to diversify our internal talent and skills by bringing on new team members with wood frame expertise.

 

As part of the larger field operations team, the Superintendent will lead and direct a field and site team to manage the overall operations, site, quality and schedule of a construction project. The successful candidate will maintain effective working relationships with our project management, safety and trades partners while ensuring a seamless construction process consistent with Axiom Builders' commitment to quality, objectives and values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with Project Manager and regularly communicate updates such as field reports, safety inspections, staffing requirements and schedule updates;
  • Oversee subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work;
  • Ensure sufficient staffing is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives;
  • Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues; 
  • Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed;
  • Supervise and direct trades and labourers through regular instruction, communication feedback;
  • Support CSO and head office in ensuring all employees, subcontractors and contractors are adhering to the safety policies;
  • Work in partnership with Head Office and communicate effectively with all departments and provides reports as requested.

What You Bring

The ideal Superintendent, Wood Frame candidate comes from a background in building multiple town-home communities and low-rise projects in the Lower Mainland. Although wood frame projects might be your area of expertise, you are open to venturing into the world of high-rise concrete or mass timber down the line in your career. You are a forward-thinking, proactive individual with strong connections and relationships in the industry. You recognize that it's these relationships that will be key to your overall long-term success in this role and at Axiom Builders. You are an effective and concise communicator regardless of the situation. As a leader, you have the ability to motivate and inspire the team to get ahead of the project schedule but you also make yourself approachable to listen to challenges they experience on a day-to-day basis. You value integrity and honesty - you not only dedicate yourself to the project, to the team and to the company, but also, just as importantly, to the client.

 

Skills and Requirements

  • At least six years of experience as a superintendent for a general contractor with a project list that includes multiple wood frame or low-rise projects;
  • Excellent record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion;
  • Ability to build relationships with not only the field staff, but also clients and other external stakeholders;
  • Ability and proven experience to lead and motivate site crew of various sizes and scopes;
  • Proven success in influencing a culture of positivity, ownership and reliability on site.

The base salary range for this role may be $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience, plus a competitive performance-based bonus program. During the interview process, let’s talk to get the right fit for your experience level.
