About The Role

Axiom Builders is actively seeking a dynamic Corporate Health & Safety Manager to lead and elevate aspects of our safety initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting the Director, Health & Safety with overseeing safety personnel, driving a culture of excellence, and ensuring the organization's commitment to minimizing and eradicating safety incidents is met. Additionally, you will play a key role in overseeing the Corporate Health & Safety Coordinator, providing guidance and coordination in the execution of safety plans and programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement a comprehensive training program aligned with industry standards for safety personnel.
  • Conduct tailored training sessions emphasizing safety protocols, best practices, and onboarding for new safety personnel.
  • Implement a robust system for documenting, reporting incidents, and identifying corrective actions.
  • Cultivate open communication channels between site personnel and the safety team.
  • Facilitate regular forums for discussing safety concerns and suggestions from the field, acting as a liaison between project teams and the safety department.
  • Contribute to refining corporate safety policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across various construction environments.
  • Efficiently manage disability claims, collaborating with HR and relevant departments, and provide leadership in developing return-to-work programs and accommodations.
  • Conduct regular reviews of disability management processes.
  • Establish and lead a continuous improvement process for health and safety systems, staying abreast of industry advancements and changes in regulations.
  • Define KPIs for safety and regularly report on the organization's safety performance.
  • Analyze data trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance safety performance.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for this role possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills, demonstrating effective time management and critical thinking abilities. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for transferring knowledge across diverse audiences. As a self-starter, the individual should work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Five or more years in Corporate Health & Safety within the Construction Industry.
  • Experience in designing and implementing comprehensive safety training programs and/or refining corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct tailored training sessions emphasizing safety protocols and best practices.
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is an asset.
  • Training in Disability Management through a recognized provider is advantageous.
  • Additional safety training is beneficial, including WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, etc.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation covering Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Ability to provide oversight and direction to others, including goal-setting, training, and coaching.

The base salary range for this role may be $90,000 to $105,000+, depending on experience, plus a competitive performance-based bonus program. During the interview process, let’s talk to get the right fit for your experience level.
