    About the Role

    Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Senior Estimator will be responsible for coordinating the costing process on commercial and residential construction projects while taking on some leadership/mentorship opportunities with the juniors on our team.

     

    With excellent people skills the Senior Estimator will effectively communicate project estimate details to clients/owners, architects and other project stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

    • Use knowledge of construction methods to determine the most cost-effective approach.
    • Review designs to identify opportunities for cost savings.
    • Coordinate and assemble estimating input.
    • Conceptual estimating from preliminary drawings through final cost analysis.
    • Communicate with subtrades to assist in budgeting to ensure they understand their scope of work.
    • Attend design meetings with Owner and Consultants.
    • Prepare/coordinate quantity take-offs.
    • Cost out quantities.
    • Review bid packages from sub-contractors and suppliers.
    • Read all general and technical specifications.
    • Understand products specified.
    • Understand construction procedures.
    • Ability to identify problem areas, missing details, etc.
    • Review labour requirements and labour availability.
    • Prepare preliminary construction schedule.
    • Microsoft Project schedule - major activities and phasing.
    • Evaluate cost saving measures.

    What you Bring

    You are a seasoned estimator or quantity surveyor that has been in the construction industry in Vancouver for many years. You know all the big players and are looking for an opportunity to join a larger company. You are excited at the opportunity to mentor/lead juniors and be second in command to the Chief Estimator.  You are hardworking, analytical and detail oriented. Your team knows that you understand construction and will be thorough in everything you do.

     

    Our Must Haves

    • 6-8 years of solid experience working on unique projects from beginning to end
    • Previous experience as a Lead Estimator on at least 1-2 projects
    • Experience with computerized measurement software, such as Planswift
